“There is no more space for virtual disk”

You may find a VM is suspended and get the following error in vSphere:

“There is no more space for virtual disk VMNAME DISKNAME.vmdk. You might be able to continue this session by freeing disk space on the relevant volume, and clicking button.retry. Click button.abort to terminate this”

This normally happens when your datastores are running low. A common cause is old snapshots being left for weeks or months.

If you have ISO files and other large files in your datastore, try deleting those first and selecting Retry.

If that doesn’t work, press Cancel (the VM will turn off fully) then delete the snapshot(s). Deleting the snapshots(s) can take hours depending on the age or the size so be prepared to wait!
